What are RoofRoc tiles made of?

RoofRoc synthetic tiles are made primarily of  limestone and recycled polyethylene.

What colors do RoofRoc tiles come in?

RoofRoc Slate is currently offered in four colors: Ebony Black, Gunsmoke Grey, Heritage Brown, and Village Green.
RoofRoc Cedar Shake is available in slightly aged cedar.

How consistent are the colors?

Similar to nature, RoofRoc tiles will vary slightly in shade as a result of the natural resource material used. This slight variation in shade aids to better replicate the appearance of natural slate and avoid a monotone appearance of the roof. Master color samples are maintained and used at the manufacturing plant to ensure that standard colors remain as consistent as possible.

How long do RoofRoc tiles last?

Accelerated weather testing indicated that RoofRoc will have a life expectancy that is considerably longer than the 50 year warranty that is offered.

What sizes do the tiles come in?

Roofroc slate tiles are approximately 16" long x 10" wide. There are 4 distinct profiles that provide a random look once RoofRoc tiles are installed. Hip and Ridge Caps are 5 inches by 16 inches long and come paired with a custom vee cut bevel to fit most roof pitches.

RoofRoc cedar shake tiles come in 5 different width sizes; 7"x11", 17"x9", 17"x71/2",7"x61/2" and 17"x6". There are 10 different distinct profiles, giving it a random look.

Can you walk on a RoofRoc tile once it has been installed on a roof?

Yes. Unlike some roofing products RoofRoc stands up to extreme punishment from the environment and roof traffic. RoofRoc is made to last, look great and protect your home.

What is the lowest slope RoofRoc can be used on?

RoofRoc is recommended for roofs with a pitch of 4:12 or greater. Contact RoofRoc for special recommendations on installations less than 4:12 roof pitch.

Do you have to install strips of wood horizontally under the RoofRoc tiles to allow them to "breathe"?

No. RoofRoc is a synthetic product that does not need to breathe. It can be installed over solid plywood sheathing. Please adhere to the installation guide and all local codes regarding installation.

How much does RoofRoc weigh?

RoofRoc slate weighs approximately 552 lbs per Square. (1 Square = 100 square feet)
RoofRoc shake weighs approximately 522  lbs per Square. (1 Square = 100 square feet)

Does RoofRoc require extra structural support on a roof?

No. Unlike concrete tile and natural slate roofs which require extra structural supports to carry such a heavy weight, the structural requirements for a RoofRoc Slate Roof are the same as those for an asphalt or cedar roof.

Is RoofRoc easy to install?

Yes. RoofRoc installs in a manner very similar to that used for natural cedar shingles. RoofRoc tiles cut and trim easily. The tiles can be installed with a power nailer.
